As an award-winning XR and Immersive Media Artist and Experience Designer with more than 18 years of professional experience encompassing VR, AR, web, mobile, films, games, live performance, and interactive installations, Min Kwak’s works are internationally notable. Her creative media design and artwork have been published by prestigious organizations including The Guardian, TransfrVR, Lincoln Center, App Store & Google Play, Off Broadway shows, Chabad Worldwide, and AWE XR Global.
She worked with more than 30 major clients and her projects have been awarded by International Communication Design Competition, Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas & World’s Most Innovative Companies, Inc. 5000 & Best in Business, Crown’s Calendar Design Contest, Reel Out Charlotte, etc. Until recently she has been working with Transfr, a leading VR training company to build interactive VR simulations for in-depth training as well as career exploration. Her recent work with Bayeté Ross Smith, a 5-part VR film series about racial violence in the US history, was published by The Guardian. Her another work with Bayeté, San Juan Hill: A New York Story, an immersive media art performance, was presented in Lincoln Center. Previously she was working with Technodramatists, directing and executing UX/UI principles for immersive AR theatre applications. She led design of AR performances which were premiered at Off-Broadway and AWE XR Global Summit. She also worked at XReality Center of The New School and YokeyPokey VR, launched AR public art application which is live on App Store and Google Play, and VR learning and entertainment game, The Chanukah Experience. She also has been teaching as a part-time faculty at Pratt Institute, teaching UX design for AR/VR in Information Experience Design Master’s program as well as Communication Design for BFA courses. Her creative exploration has dedicated to art and emerging technology, innovative storytelling, and challenging the boundary of reality as well as her aspirations in feminism, journalism, political science, and social/environmental justice.
Min’s professional experience in the field of UX design enabled her to make a vigorous communication between human and machine while keeping the user the center of focus. She also has worked as Senior UX Designer with major clients including Kyobo, among the top 3 life insurance companies in South Korea. She earned Master’s Degree of Fine Arts in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design with Dean’s Merit Scholarship fund.
